This is a playbook for building, launching, and validating a startup idea in 30 days. At the beginning, speed, execution, and rapid learning is everything. You should be on a mission to invalidate, not validate, your startup idea. Below you’ll find a framework for just that.

At the end of 30 days, you’ll either have crushed your startup idea, with real customer feedback and data, or will walk away with some meaningful traction. If there’s anything you take away from this, I hope it’s a bias to action. Momentum is everything.

Primary objectives for the next 30 days (and how to use this guide)

The following objectives are in hierarchy of importance and execution. The project management, weekly playbook that follows, also breaks things down into daily, actionable steps that are reflective of these goals. Use all of the below loosely, and remember, if you can move even if, do so! Whether you have 1 spare hour a day, or can work on things full-time, the schedule should still be realistic.

  1. 🤯 Clearly define the problem, not necessarily your solution. Talking to users and customer discovery are your tools of choice here. You’re on a mission to dig up some gold, so don’t rush into things with a solution. Listen to your potential customers, their struggles, their needs, hopes and dreams.
  2. 💡 Take those learnings and strategize a solution. Take it level beyond pen and paper, and throw together concepts, mockups, and at the end of a user interview, get some initial feedback from real potential customers.
